FAQs

How many people can come on the trip?

1

The maximum number of passengers you can have in your group is 6.

WHat Should I wear?

2

Bring an extra layer or a windbreaker, as it can be much colder when the boat is moving on the ocean than on land. Since we encourage guests to get as hands-on as possible, it's best to avoid wearing your Sunday best. Closed-toed shoes are also recommended. We have plenty of traditional fishing overalls, rubber gloves, and lobsterman's jackets available for guests to borrow if you want a truly authentic farming experience!

Are kids allowed on the tour?

3

Yes! Kids of all ages are welcome to come but we find that children ages 13+ get the most enjoyment out of this type of trip. We have a similar oyster tour and lobstering trip that is designed for kids of all ages.

Are dogs allowed on the trip?

4

Yes, we absolutely love dogs! However, we kindly ask that you use good judgment. The boat rides, floating docks, and the ocean's sounds and smells can be overwhelming for anxious pups. Please ensure your dog is experienced and relaxed in such environments, and avoid using this trip as a test for their comfort.

Is Food and alcohol allowed on the trip?

5

Certainly! Feel free to bring your favorite drinks and snacks on board. Just remember to drink responsibly and be mindful of others.

Is there a limit to how many oysters I can eat on the Tour?

6

Yes and no! While there isn't a strict limit, we do ask that guests be gracious with our resources.

Will I get seasick on the boat ride?

7

Our oyster farm is just a 10-minute cruise through the harbor and into a quiet cove, away from the open ocean. While the seas are not always completely calm, we rarely have issues with people getting motion sick during such a short ride

Is the oyster tour suitable for people with shellfish allergies?

8

Unfortunately, this activity is not suitable for people with shellfish allergies.

Can Eating Oysters Make me Sick?

9

Vibrio bacteria live in coastal waters throughout the world, and consuming raw oysters can lead to illness if bacteria are present. Maine's cold waters significantly reduce this risk, and our safe handling, harvesting, and transporting practices make Maine among the safest States for eating oysters.
